Recognition of the health qualities of olive oil has led to a dramatic increase in its global consumption. Introduction of irrigation and subsequent water and nutrient management are powerful methods for increasing yields and optimizing olive oil production. There is currently a substantial worldwide phenomenon of conversion of traditional rain-fed orchards to irrigation.

However, current knowledge regarding the best practices for irrigation and fertigation of olives, especially regarding aspects of yield, oil quality and environmental pollution, is severely limited. You are invited to participate in an international meeting of olive researchers and professionals for the exchange of knowledge and ideas on issues of irrigation of olives.

The objective of the symposium is to bring together the world’s experts in irrigation of olives to share current state of the art knowledge regarding olive cultivation, oil production and oil quality in terms of irrigation water and nutrient management. During the symposium, participants will have the opprtunity to get to know the rich olive history of the region and to meet local leading industry of oil production.

Papers presented in the Symposium will be published in a volume of Acta Horticulturae, subject to acceptance by the editorial board.
